We dance most Wednesday evenings from 7:30-10 at the Claxton Community Center.
Check with the Taylors to be sure we are dancing if you don't come regularly as occasionally, our schedule varies.

Thursday, November 17th, Bulgarika, a Bulgarian Folk Ensemble, performed at the International House on UT’s Campus
The Oak Ridge Folk Dancers are helped sponsor this event. Bulgarika is made up of well-known singer, Donka Koleva, and her band. There was Bulgarian folk dancing this evening to the live music of this touring group.

Iliana Bozhanova and her accordionist, Todor Yankov, traveling in the US this fall, visited us on Wednesday evening, October 12th, at the Claxton Community Center.

Erik Bendix taught dances from Albania and the Kosovo region, Greece and Macedonia. Erik co-founded Mountain Playshop over thirty years ago, and has taught, choreographed, directed and performed dances from across the globe both in the US and internationally.

The Oak Ridge International Folk Dancers meet throughout the year on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 10 PM at the Claxton Community Center near Oak Ridge and Knoxville, Tennessee. Paul Taylor and other folk dancers in the group teach dances early in the evening starting at 7:30 PM; then we do request dancing until 10 PM. We have pot luck suppers and workshops on a regular basis. Call to verify schedule changes during holidays.

History: The group was started over fifty years ago when the city of Oak Ridge, Tennessee was first developed during World War II. Our dancers come from Oak Ridge, Knoxville and nearby towns. We welcome visitors to the area, fanatics, beginners and every level in between.
We do dances from the following countries and more: Romania, Bulgaria, England, Scotland, France, Hungary, Sweden, Norway, Ukraine, China, Israel, Germany, Ireland, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Russia, Mexico, Slovenia, Armenia, South Africa and Japan.
